Are there any brands that are more recommended then others as far as scuba tools are concerned ?

Is it better to buy a Multi Tool for scuba diving, or to buy each separate tool ?

Same question concerning scuba tool kits ?

Are the multi tools that have 12 tools better then those who have only 8 ?

To what extent is the type of steel important ?

Any other type of piece of advice would be most welcome.

EDIT: Tools for a Save-A-Dive kit.

Depends on the intended use. Regulator maintenance? Save-a-dive kit? I like the XS Scuba star tool for a quick tool just to have around. My regulator service tool kit is much more extensive.

Thanks. Sorry I was unclear. I edited my question.

The XS Scuba star tool is very handy, I even have one with me on the dive to tighten up a bubbling hose or plug:

Stainless Steel Star Tool

One of these is a little bulkier but should see you right for a loooong time:

I avoid the "Swiss Army" type tools, they always end up impossible to open with the eventual corrosion. Of course, I am crap at oiling and rinsing them.

Another option is to get something like this and then add tools as you need them:

Dive Rite Tech Roll Up Tool Bag

As far as tool brands, I generally buy cheap generic tools then I don't feel bad when I have to toss them or lose them. An Allen key set, adjustable wrench etc.

Oh and if you are getting an adjustable wrench, a narrow tip one will change your life:

+1 (actually +100 !) for getting a narrow tip adjustable wrench. I got mine from ebay, but anything adjustable is better than a stack of cone spanners that 'nearly' fit

Thanks for the advice about the narrow tip !
