Al... if you had read my previous posts, my comments with B&B's BOAT are second-hand... with their GENERAL CUSTOMER SERVICE and available product are first-hand. Neither of these issues is because of the lack of that "favour".

Maybe it is as simple as you just make a bad first impression. Some people are like that. Take your posts here, I don't know you from Adam, but you seem awful eager to be critical and combative based on how you are treated in spite of overwhelming praise for B&B from most others. Most would not seem to share the same friction with that dive shop. Why do you suppose that is? I am sure you can't possibly be as self-centered and pompous as your posts would indicate, so maybe we can meet in person next summer when I am on Maui and see if the second impression is the more accurate one.

Fair enough, Jon.

One thing I've noticed is a lot of people are not willing to speak their minds. I do know of others that have had less-than-stellar encounters with some of the most highly-praised operators. They're not necessarily posting to SB, and if they were, they may be holding their tongue.

Personally, I believe in sharing the whole story. If it was *one* encounter in these situations, I'd be much more inclined to sweep it under the rug. Two, less so. Three or more... well, I'm going to have formed an opinion worth sharing.

I am sure the silent and shy are relieved you are their appointed voice; however I wonder why anyone would go to a dive shop (or a burger joint, barber, or dentist,...) after more than ONE bad experience. Surely you have other, more receptive shops you would be welcome, no? You don't like B&B and they don't want your business. I see a lot of wasted energy on your part continuing the flaming of a long established and well respected shop on the ScubaBoard message board. Chalk it up to bad chemistry and move on...do some diving perhaps. I'll be taking my own advise and go on to the next interesting thread...

Does anybody know the dealbreaker heighth of a south swell?

Totally depends on experience level of those on board, queasiness, and how the swell is actually hitting the wall.

When I looked at the swell model earlier today, it appeared to be an indirect south swell -- most of the buoys were showing an easterly swell, with the ones south of Lanai being the only showing south.

Check here: http://www.stormsurfing.com/cgi/display.cgi?a=hi and fast-forward to 18Z Weds to see expected conditions for Wednesday morning at 8am.

last week was a big south swell, but it appears to have calmed down a lot and like Kris said, the Wed. forcast isn't looking too bad.

Aloha, Tim

Kris give me a break. I've sent them dozens and dozens of customers and not one has come back unhappy. This voice of yours appears to be a very lonely one. If you think you represent all those unhappy B&B customers just imagine how many voices the rest of us represent. By the way I've gotten privates about you recently by posters here who don't want a confrontation with you here on the forum.

I know they read this forum at B&B and Blesi posts here every so often. So while I don't necessarily believe they treated you poorly I wouldn't blame them a bit if they did. At the shop I work for you'd be shown the door. You are an overopinionated brand new professional who has very limited experience. As I said earlier, they'll survive without your support but think about displaying a tiny bit of class every so often, who knows, you might find yourself welcomed into more shops.

Whatever, Al.

Would that be the same "class" that B&B shows when they cancel a charter and leave two divers at the ramp without any sort of notification? (Yes, that happened yesterday, BTW).

While you think the best way to support them is to steer everybody you can towards them, I'm inclined to show both sides of my experience here -- and while you feel like calling it limited, it's a heck of a lot more than a lot of people that chime in with opinions from their experience of two-week vacations here over the past 5-10 years.

You'll notice that I don't express opinions on operations outside of Maui -- I don't have experience with them. But I would say that I have sufficient experience to provide some solid background on most of the operators here. While you don't agree, and hence I'm "overopinionated" I have also been PM'd by individuals who are grateful for the fact that I'm willing to share both negative and positive that I've seen.

We did not cancel a charter yesterday, because we did not have one.

We intentionally closed our boat 2 weeks ago for Monday, Sep. 3, 2007 for maintenance.

Nobody called the shop upset about any cancellations by B&B. :)
