Just my two cents here. I was in Key Largo during Isadore and made six dives with Amorays. The boat can hold thirty or so, but there were only eight or nine of us (probably due to the six foot swells). VERY easy to work with people. No problem adjusting our dive schedule about twelve times. Good boat, great crew. Nothing bad to say about them, lots of good things. We stayed at the Mariott, but only because it was part of a package deal on Expedia. Waste of money otherwise. Have fun.

Whoever you choose to dive with in Key Largo I suggest that you avoid diving the Christ of the Abyss site. The site gets lots of traffic and the coral is pretty badly damaged. It's so shallow that it's better suited to snorkelling than diving IMHO. Some of the other reefs in the Key Largo Area are in better shape and have more to see. Several parts of Molasses Reef are in pretty good condition.

Get out to the Eagle or the Duane if you want to see the best of the upper keys. I haven't been to the Speigel Grove yet so I can't comment ont it. I've heard good reviews of it though. I am going to Key Largo with my dive club in November and we are probably diving it then. I envy the folks who live close enough to dive it on a regular basis. They will have the opportunity to watch all the new occupants move in to their new homes.

The Spiegel Grove is awesome! We couldn't dive it due to long week of diving and next day fly, but did snorkle over teh sight. Just wow, it is huge. Our captain was telling us the current there can be strong at times, be prepared and use caution.

Agree with the Christ statue dive, too many people!
