We are relatively experienced divers (50+ dives) who have not been in the water for a few years. Presently planning to stay in the Corridor area December 4-9 for 3 days of diving. We are accustomed to staying in 3-4 star hotels with dive shops that will pick you up at the hotel dock and arrive at dive sites within 20 minutes or so and would like to replicate that in Cabo. Any thoughts on the following:

1. Trying to decide where to dive--Are the local dive sites around Cabo San Lucas and/or the Corridor better or worse than Cabo Pulmo area? Is there a clear preference for one over the other?

2. I'm not crazy about the 2 hour drive to Cabo Pulmo. Any recommendations for a place to stay in that area (for around $150/night or less)?

3. Any dive shop recommendations if we stay in the Corridor? Recommendations if we stay in Cabo Pulmo?

4. Is it safe to rent a car and drive the 2 hours to Cabo Pulmo?

Just returned from Cabo Pulmo a week ago. What an awesome dive community. Cabo Pulmo is a very rural (dirt roads/no electricity) village. We loved the atmosphere. We stayed at a Vacation Rental by Owner home. (El Encanto de Cabo Pulmo - Artful Luxury Vacation Rental - Cabo Pulmo, Mexico) and dove with Cabo Pulmo Beach Resort. The dive center is very well ran. The guide that we used for all 3 days was Ramon. We really enjoy Ramon and dove with him last November in Cabo San Lucas. The reef and the dive sites in Cabo Pulmo make the whole trip worthwhile. Cabo San Lucas is fun but the diving is limited to about 4 or 5 sites and no where near the abundant sea life and variety that Cabo Pulmo offers. Feel free to contact me if you have questions.

I read there's a good chance of missing dives in December because of high winds coming from the North that impact the east side of baja that are not experienced near Cabo San Lucas. Any thoughts? Don't want to book a couple of days in Pulmo and sit around doing nothing.

We Dive with Baja Dive located in the Tesoro Resort located on the Marina they have a 40 foot boat with lots of shade big ladder and will wash and store your gear.Check out web site Home
As far as getting around better rent a car the resorts in the corrodor are miles out of town.
The taxi unions haved stopped the shops from picking up customers at hotels.
Its getting late in the season to Dive Cabo Pulmo.

Hello. I agree about the season for Cabo Pulmo almost over.
If you have not Dove in a few years Baja Dive Gives a free refesher course before the Dives and will set you up with your own Instructor to teach it and lead you on your Dives.
My sister and her boy friend did it last year and there was no extra charge.

Hi I can help you as well...I also can help you with places to stay...I have access to a resort...If you want I can check on pricing for you. I have lived here for 20 years and have a small Tour company that customizes diving and eco tours. Cabo Pulmo was excellent yesterday...the visibility was 80 foot. I would pick you up and drive you there for the fee of 150.00 and also price your day packages for you. My divemaster has logged over 15,000 dives here and I have done over 7,000. So we know our stuff for sure. Let me know....you can call my vonage phone 1-479-935-9678. If my Mom answers....be patient....ha... I take care of her and she is 83 years old....I will return your call. Thanks, Donna
