Well, my personal experience with Orange County sand was not as enjoyable, but having some wheels on a tank boot would be very helpful for such things as taking the ferry to Catalina Island--they get $15 for an AL80 but I forgot to ask how much for a fill so it might not be worth taking a tank anyway unless you are doing one dive.
