Sounds like crinkling cellophane to me. My second last pneumonia was diffuse (or ARDS). The specialists could not decide. I was drowning in my own fluids both sinus and lungs. Crackles was kind of the least of my problems. The specialists couldn't find what caused it though one speculated it was an adverse reaction to the chloroquine (my personal favorite due to progression and eventual wellness). The other specialists pooh-poohed that idea. Nonetheless, they managed to keep me alive and I ultimately survived. :)

Anyway, sorry about that. Didn't mean to divert the thread, I merely wanted OP and you to understand my concern regarding the crackling.

But my advice is to hold off diving if you are still systematic (?) with a productive cough or need to use your inhaler, too great a risk for bronchospams or mucus plug.

Do you mean "symptomatic?"

Thanks,

DocV

 How is it you can read something a dozen times and each time you see what you expect it to say and not what is there!

Can't tell you how many times I've meant to say "not to" and read it as such, but just ended up with "to".

Cheers,

Doc
