When I did Japanese intro dives in Hawaii (aka Jap dunking), I had a nice lime green and black Harvey's wetsuit that I wore in the winter months that had a bright pink lining.
The Japanese love the color pink, pronounced "pin-ko", and a hugely popular TV show out of Tokyo was called "Pinku Lady". So every now and then, I'd wear the wetsuit inside-out when I drove the shuttle boat since I did more driving than diving.
The Japanese loved it - giant dai-ichi gaijin scuba sensei in pinku. The local guys really got bent out of shape for some reason - they mighta had some ish-ee-yews with their own sense of identity.
Of course, they were other days when I drove the boat in wearing nothing, but that's not a story for this board. The 300 or so Japanese on the main boat REALLY went wild when I did that.
One night at the Halekulani Hotel in Waikiki, I even got to dance with one of the two female stars of Pinku Lady. She and her her mom were so short next to me that I just picked them up so I didn't have to bend over so much. There was other stuff that happened that night, but geez, none of you want to know it.
