I have no idea what a prescription mask costs, but used OTS full face masks go pretty cheap and you can mount eyeglasses without the ear pieces in them. That aside, scuba is an expensive hobby. Seems like a prescription mask would be a drop in the bucket compared to other gear, air, dive trips, etc. Like I said, I have no clue what a prescription mask costs, though.

Single vision about $200, with bifocal add another $100. If you can swing it, it made a great difference in my quality of dive life. I used Leonard at Prescription Dive Masks and I am very happy with the quality and service. Call the number and Leonard answers the phone him self! Who does that?
I actually have been considering a computer, which I think is going to probably be the solution. So far we have not used a computer, as I was out of diving for several years and my wife is newly certified, we were waiting to see if we were actually going to be able to do much diving and we weren't sure if a computer would be a reasonable purchase. It turns out we will be doing quite a bit, so I think I am going to try to get one. Just have to do some research on which one would be best for us.
Best one is one that is easy to read. They vary.

I've had my stick on magnifiers for over ten years and moved them from my old mask to the new. The trick is to follow directions and let them set on the mask until completely dry, since I was diving on weekends it sat for a week before use. I keep them a bit lower than most folks because I use them for small print on my computer, I can read the depth and NDL time without.

I second the suggestion for Prescription Dive Masks. It allows you to use a mask that you know fits and you like, and they have a number of custom options. I have readers in mine for gauges and photography. I've had the same mask for 5-6 years and the lenses are still bonded well and no clouding from cleaning etc. You can adjust where they go to suite your needs. The readers do not affect your distance viewing. That said I would try stick-ons first to see where you want the lenses and make sure of the strength. It is usually 1 step below your above water strength, but may vary depending on how close or far away you want the focal point. I had no luck with the stick-ons for any more than a dive or two- despite several tries. I think some glass (the high end stuff) is just not porous enough top allow a great bond (and I followed the instructions).
