I've been using the Neoptx stick on readers for almost a year. The trick is to not get the mask too wet when initially sticking the lens on. I couldn't read the settings on my GoPro and now I can. I like the idea of the Dive Gear Express house brand mask with vision correction, however, I have a small face and find most adult masks are too big. I think most of us have tried different masks and have come up with the perfect one for our faces. Anyhow, the stick ons work fine and can be removed and repositioned in your mask if you don't like how you've initially positioned them.

Some masks have generic drop in replacement prescription lenses for about $30 each.

Did you consider getting contacts with a weaker prescription? Should help with near focus as your eyes have to fight the contacts less to focus up close.

They work great and, like Bob said, you only have issues with them if you don't put them on properly. Or, more specifically, let them dry for long enough.

Plus, if/when they do start to want to come off, you can see the air under them getting bigger and bigger. If/when that happens, you just pop them off and reapply the same way you did the first time, let them dry properly (at least 24 hours - longer is better). They get a lot of air under them before they come off, so you have plenty of warning.

The only reason I'm not still using these myself is I found that my mask constantly leaking was not the fault of my mustache. I tried a buddy's mask and it didn't leak at all. And his mask (SeaVision 2100) was available with colored lenses (u/w color correction) and built-in gauge readers. AND I was able to pay for the new masks with my HSA (health savings account) since the masks have corrective lenses. So, I got new masks for no out of pocket cost and they don't leak. Win win.

But, the HydroTacs work great. I have had the same pair on the inside of my sunglasses for over a year now. And my sunglass lenses are curved!

This issue intrests me also. I think you should see an optometrist and get his input. Preferable one that dives. The water alone does something like a 1 or so and if you have glasses that are say 3.5 then you need lenses for 2.5 n the mask. the mask script folks know this and adjust the script for water use. I am wondering if contacts are not interfering with the problem. I use a 2.5 gain on my contacts which I don't wear, my glasses are the same. I am far sighted so the only real script is effecting the near vision. Wearing no contacts and my using a mask with a lower window panel is 2.5 gain. So really it is probably 1.0 and the water handles the rest for a composite of 2.5 gain. my vision is a little blurry when I take my mask off but I can work with it. My eye guy suggests wearing one contact and none on the other eye for distance clarity. I tried that and it did not work for me. probably a mind training issue for me. wit out contacts I see fine distance. blurry near sight using the forward lense and good functional focus using the lower lense.

I considered getting prescription masks and the cost was 250+. then I thought if I lost my mask I needed a spare for another pay out. The link below is what I got and if you looke it you can go to most shops and they will have on the rack.

Here is the mask I use. there are other masks that look like this and they may have different magnifications. Now this is a 1.75 so that with water correctioin is 1.75 or its like 3.0. I don't know how they determine the power. (with or with out water) I believe my mask was a 2.5 when I bought it.

How long did you let them dry on your mask before you dived with them?

Everything I read on SB before I tried mine indicated that overnight was not long for them to dry. 24 hours is a minimum. I let mine dry for several days before I dived with them and they never moved.

another thing to note is variance between eye strengths. My right eye is far worse than my left so I can only match one eye with the pre made mask lenses.

In that case you can close one eye read the gage and then open both for distance viewing. Close vision is pretty forgiving as long as you are close.

I probably did not apply them correctly then.
