How about all the conflicting reports. 1. incident happened while diver was doing deco & found floating in the river. 2. Diver "blew off" deco & collapsed on shore. Is the evidence pointing towards diver error or possible medical issue? Other than the initial reports there's been nothing.
That being said, I've read this in a couple different forums & don't remember what was said in what forum, but some clarity would be nice.
Diver left his buddy during deco, he was not solo. I can't comment as to where he was found (collapsed on shore or floating in the river) as I have not personally verified that and don't want to spread misinformation like the fellow who posted on CDF did. The diver was in his late 60's.
I don't think we'll ever know what was going on in his head. Considering even commercial divers are given up to 5min to reach a chamber at the surface, I would feel safe saying that blowing off the deco wasn't the cause here. Something else was wrong.Did he leave deco because he felt ill, making this a medical issue? Did he blow off deco for some reason, making this a bad-decision issue? Were the two combined?
Jax,Side question - is this gag on the news (reference this incident) 'normal' for Ginnie Springs?
Every other incident at least has news stories, incorrect as they often are.
Jax,
Have you googled this? I think you could answer your own question.

2009 DeathYes, actually - I find nothing dated later than 2008. Caveat -- we have tight search restrictions. For example, tinyurl.com is blocked.
