Guys, that's the beauty of the RB-80, it can be adapted for any kind of diving that you are going to use it for. Small or large volume tanks, aluminum or steel...the choice of the owner. Small compact travel bands can be used or the new stainless steel hardmount is now available. Reinhard has even made special mounts for individuals with specific requirements not covered by a Halcyon product.

The RB-80 can be driven off of a single stage bottle or multiple stage bottles. The gas switching block is easy to use and is easily clipped to the butt D-ring.

Yes the unit is pricey as well as the training. When you want a quality unit...you pay a quality price.

It's a wonderful unit to dive. Easy to maintain, easy to clean, easy to assemble and no electronics to worry about. Intrusive and intuitive alarms to warn if there's a problem and enough bailout gas to supply you and your buddy. I love it!

Fair Trade Pricing puts the RB80 just under $10,000 and the training runs between $1,500 and $1,750.

Cost to operate the RB80 is a simple Nitrox fill of $6 and DraegerSorb which will run you about $1.50 per hour.

DS,

Since you are in the vicinity, if you get the training (we're trying to put together another class this Fall), you can rent the RB80 from Torii for $50 per day. All you need is your own BP/Harness and wing (or rent them for $10 per day), plus pay for your gas and Draegersorb.

Humm....... What are the minimum requirements???

Hi Dudes,

i am one of the dudes using the double-RB80.
The reason for the double unit is that we are not able to set up a cave with stages to like 10.000ft because conditions change too fast, other groups are also diving there, etc.
So we have to really get most stuff done within a few days.

The RB80 is a great unit but it is correct that the 19grand of GI and JJ was done with the older Halcyon.

We use Double 20Liter tank filled to around 240bar i guess around 3500psi, but during the dive we only drive the breather out of a stage.
The currently unused unit is plugged to the backgas to prevent it from beeing crushed when going deeper.
Scrubber is lasting 11hours at 54Fahrenheit

The "switchblock" is handled like you would change a gas on OC, so during the dive only 1 Gas is plugged in.

We also dive the unit as a single-breather, it just depends on the job.

Michael

P.S.: We do not clip anything to our butts

Humm....... What are the minimum requirements???

1.6 General Prerequisites For All GUE Courses
The following are course prerequisites for all GUE courses (any additional and/or course specific
prerequisite, as well as any deviations from the following, will be listed under the appropriate section of the
specific course):
1. Must have a completed application packet on file, including medical information, release forms,
and dive history.
2. Must submit a diving resume to headquarters via electronic or land mail.
3. Must be physically fit, mentally stable, and clearly focused.
4. Must hold DAN Master Plan insurance or equivalent.
5. Must be a non-smoker.
6. Must obtain an authorization for the use of prescription drugs by a physician (with the exception
of birth control) and must have such authorization approved by a GUE representative prior to the
onset of diver training.
7. All GUE trained divers are initially encouraged to become GUE members and to continue to
renew their membership after it expires. This provides them with continued access to GUE
support materials, which includes on-line training materials, quarterly issues of GUE’s educational
magazine, and an industry-leading educational forum. Furthermore, GUE members are
automatically enrolled in Quest online, an important educational electronic mail list that allows
them to further their post-class education on a variety of subjects.

Specific for Rebreather 1:

Must meet GUE General Course Prerequisites as outlined in Section 1.6.
Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
Must have completed a GUE pre-class entrance exam.
Must have GUE DIR Fundamentals training.
Must have a minimum of 75 dives. Training dives are not included in these totals.
Must be able to swim a distance of at least 60 feet/18 meters on a breath hold.
Must be able to swim at least 300 yards/275 meters in less than 12 minutes without stopping

And I believe one oversight in this, is the requirement to have a Nitrox certification.

ok thanks for the info

have a couple of other questions
i take it the double rebreather set up is for the ekpp ? or is that the same for wakulla ? and that setting up stages that deep would run into some logistics problesm for divers doing the push ?

2. what are the largest tanks that the rb 80 and be set up with ?

3. you said that you only run bottlesoff the switch block and not backgas. is there any reason why or is that a bail out ?

4. if you dont clip off to the butt ring , where do you clip off the extra scooters etc?
