Rash from wetsuit seam ???

My wife gets these wierd rash that seams to be in the shape of the seams that is on the inner thigh and outer thigh. She dives a body glove wetsuit that is fairly new but every time she dives it, it gives her the same rash in the same spot in the shape of the seams. The rash is like a welt almost that itches like a rash. What could be in the seam that would cause this? Material of the thread? Glue? Its mind boggling to me. Please help on any ideas that would cause it. Thanks

Hi Aaron,

Although this is not a common complaint, it is not a rare, either. As seams that are sewn are almost always glued as well, it is certainly possible that something in the adhesive is causing this. Does your wife have latex or other such sensitivity?

She can try wearing a skin underneath to see if this helps. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. Can also try other suits in the hopes of finding one with an adhesive to which she does not react. If these measures fail, go with a custom wetsuit made with no glue.

Thanks Doc.... She doesn't have any allergic reactions nor rashes with past suits that we have rented for her. This one might just be a fluke or something. I just bought her a new Viking Drysuit. I was just curious what might of caused it. Thanks again,
