Hi:

I Really Don't Consider Myself New To The World Of Diving At All. My Old Man Has Been Diving For Over 20 Yrs. And My 10 Yr Old Son Giovanni Just Completed His Bubblemaker Class. We Are Located In Laurence Harbor, New Jersey And We Started Our Dive Business About 3 Yrs. Ago. We Have 2 Boats And Have Quiet A Few Of The Better Known Marinas That We Work At In Central Jersey. Well Today We We're Just Out Crusin' Around And I Spotted A Tank Amongst A Pile Of Items From A Yard Sale. My Old Man Went Around The Block And Got Out Of The Truck To Check It Out And Purchased It For $10.00. When We Got Home We Cleaned It Up And Found Markings On The Tank. There Is A Date Stamped On The Tank November Of 1955, It Was Made By A Company In Los Angeles, California Named Healthways And The Valve On The Tank Is A Dacor Superior 5871; This Is Neither A J Or K Type This Tank Is A Cu 72. Danny Check It Out When We Got Home And It Seems To Be In Perfect Working Order, But He's Still Going To Get It Viped. Mainly Just Out Of Sheer Curiousity I Wondered If Anyone Has Ever Ran Across A Similar Tank And If So What Would The Value Of A Tank Like This Be.

You might want to email this guy: seahunter@vintagescuba.com

Healthways manufactured scuba gear into the 1960s as far as I know (I'm no expert on vintage stuff). I think they disappeared off the radar when US divers bought them and they were subsequently merged into what is now Aqualung. The guy in the email can give you more details including it's value on the vintage market.
