Hello names Rob--- I live in So CA. Been divign for awhile. Been signed up for a while, but I mostly lurk. Until I have something to say. Maybe one of you old timers can enlighten me on a subject that often bugs me. I seem to find that in the DIR hang out, there are a few posers running around giving advice to new DIR type divers. How does one know, if they are new, who is who.
One minute the person is giving advice on DIR the next they claim they claim they are not DIR (when the heat is on, or they are pressed).

Maybe I should just go back to the other DIR sites where this type of thing does not happen. Cause dang I get so frustrated when I read it. Or maybe just hang out with the normal type people and stay out of the "DIR only" site.

Anyways thanks for reading my rant.

Bye

Rob,
This is the internet. You never really know about anyone.
I have personally dived with some of the posters, and those are the only ones I am sure about. However, sence this is the internet, I could be lying. :eyebrow:
Take everything you read with a grain of salt.

If it is written, it must be true. If it is written on the internet, which is awesomely powerful, then it must be powerfully true. Suspend your doubts and believe all you read. Dude, why would someone bother to write something unless it was true?

Hey when I fart I lift up two whole feet! Its true, its true!

Do you believe? Anyways as we have spoken in the past I will again invite you to our group-- we have no posers, well maybe one or two. Also if I ever see you will you sign my old skate board? I dug it out this afternoon it's all thrashed but you can still make out that moster breaking down the wall.

Later~

Go to www.gue.com. Get there list of instrcutors. Compare that with the names on the boards. i.e. Brando(Brandon Schwartz), MHK (Michael Kane) etc. When they post here or elsewhere, take it to heart.

Cripes, the only other reference I've heard involving
"posers" is real metal versus big-hair poser bands.

Come dive with us. There are several of us DIR-types that dive often. Not in OCal waters (ew... :D ) but we do dive locally.

Probably because the large majority of the questions in this forum have been strictly equipment-related. I don't subscribe to DIR, however, I do believe in the DIR equipment configuration and I've done my research so I feel qualified to post when people ask about proper hose length, wing size and the like.

Perhaps it's because some of us who live in areas where there are large DIR populations are so exposed to the system that we know the answer.

I dive regularly with DIR-trained divers ... and I am friends with a couple GUE instructors. This stuff fascinates me, and I don't just talk about it, I use much of it ... and I dive it almost daily.

You don't need to "press" me, or put "heat" on me ... I have always been up-front that I am not DIR. I plan to take the Fundies class later this summer ... and I will still tell you I am not DIR. That doesn't mean I don't understand the system ... it means I don't view myself as an "holistic" individual.

AFAIK - this section isn't off-limits to non-DIR posters ... as long as they can provide the DIR-correct response to the questions being asked.
