"When your working on a project like this and you have a chamber on site you would be a fool not to report a hit. There is no reason not to..."

You would think so, but that was not the case. On this project if you reported any DCS you were then placed on non-diving status for 60 days I believe. I suppose that may be SOP for any diving operation (?).
This project was a big deal for the USN divers, especially since they were proving they could do deep dives, and of the experimental nature of the new tables they were developing through this project. There was a lot of pride and even more ego on that barge. Anyway, our DSO talked to their DSO, who mentioned the rumors that there were numerous unreported cases of niggles and other Type I cases that the guys tried to keep quiet so they could keep diving.

Here is a link to the manual, it is a nice one as the manual is broken down into smaller sections for download.

You can download the individual item you want here.

Volume 2 is the air diving operations / tables
Volume 3 is the mixed gas we have been talking about in this thread

You can also get the entire dive manual (large file) from:

http://www.supsalv.org/00c3_publications.asp?destPage=00c3&pageId=3.9

This is the navy SUBSALV command site and has various other publications and updates of interest...

Hope this was some help,

Jeff L

I have to give a big thanks to everyone who responded. I find it so outstanding that when someone asks a question the answers are so detailed. It is really cool to get responses from the commerical and military divers and people who were actually there.:D See you in the water
