I was certified in Racine Quarry Wisconsin back in 84..was wondering if it was still there or filled in or ??? Do people still dive there? Just curious to see if they still use it for check out dives. Would love to see a pic if anyone has one to bring back old memories. Thanks.:D

It's funny, it really not that far from Chicago, when you compare it to popular places such as Haigh Quarry and Pearl Lake, but I know of no one that dives it. I know people that did dive it in the past. It might just be that people prefer the other locations on account of viz, accomodations, and things to see.

I lived in Chicago at the time and had to go to Racine for checkout.

I did my check-out dive there in 1973. It was cold and clear. Throughout the years we have made many dives there, training dives, fun dives and ice dives. In the 90's for a while I and my buddies were diving in Racine Quarry almost every weekend through the winters. Sadly, the Quarry is no longer the clear-water diving venue it once was. It has become over-populated with Canada geese and their waste. The water is dirty and the visibility is poor. Few divers go there anymore.
