Get two chairs, a dowel ( a broom stick works too ) and a carpenter's level.......Hang the bp w/straps on the dowel, place the dowel on the backs of the two chairs.....Make sure the dowel is level, then use the level to see if the bp is hanging level.......You can hang weights on the bp to get some stretch out of the webbing........It'll tell you if the straps are of equal length and/or if the plate is 'off'......

Maybe you should ignore the relative length of the straps and just have her put it on, then you adjust one of the straps (via tri-glide on back of plate) until the BP looks straight.

I'm gonna quote it too just in case it still hasn't been noticed.

This thread is hilarious. Carpenter's levels are far too inaccurate for setting up backplates, you need a laser level.

- During a dive, I've seen her tank not being parallel to her back but slanted at an angle.

Is one of the straps sliding off her shoulder?

if I understood right ...any STA should made plate and tank parallel , because STA is fixed ( also wing ) in the centre axis of plate by two M8 bolts .

same thing if STA is integrated in wing

OOT : I have seen (huwporter style BP here) P?yta Alu Combo oksydowana,szara (850g) | Katalog Tecline ( looks like '' _M_ ''

I'm using the HOG STA which has a slight curve. However it does not ensure the BP will be parallel to the tank. Same for BPs with slots for cambands. The BP can be accidentally cinched down at an angle.

I actually bought the STA to fix this problem but it didn't. Perhaps the Halcyon type design STA might be able to do this.

Good idea. I was taught another method which actually works very well. Step on the crotch strap and stretch out the shoulder straps. You can eyeball the shoulder straps quite accurately.

Might be.

How loose are the shoulder straps?

When wearing a long backplate on a short frame - it's possible that once the belt is fastened on her hips, the backplate might be too long, thus introduce too much slack in the shoulder straps.

This could result in the doubles being being difficult to control & sloppy in water (unless carefully managed).

or just put it on her and adjust the straps until the plate is parallel to the spine and centered comfortably on the back.

You left out "balance two chickens, one on either end of the pole, to ensure................).

Now you are being silly. First you suggest putting it on, now you are suggesting chickens. Perhaps you should not set drinking so early...

I have an hour and a half drive to South Caroliny to go a divin' and I find that a little nip eases my mind for the journey.
