but first an Introduction, I am Greg. I have been diving since 1998 and have logged a couple hundred dives. I earned my PADI owsi, full cave, nitrox, nitrox blender and several other certifications. I am from south Louisiana and used to have a pet frog. I am a long time member here but not very active.

now for my question. I have not been teaching nor dive master in about ten years. just spear fishing in the gulf. I would like to start teachin again. has anyone been in this situation? what did padi have you do? i was told by some of my buddies that i would need to retake all of the IDC, others say that I would need to re take my IE. and one guy say that I'd only have to watch a video. I will be on the phone with PADI tomorrow morning but was wondering if any one on here might have some insight.

Call PADI and see what they say..do not be surprised if they tell you to retake IDC-& IE..

As mentioned a quick email to padi and they will you the details, certainly inactive status for 10 yrs will merit a full idc if not just an ie. regardless, an idc is not a bad idea, I've been away from padi for a few years with other agencies and things really do change. Best of luck.

The best direction would be to call PADI.
The first question is, have you kept up on your annual membership dues?
If yes, you should be good to go since you would have recieved the Undersea Journal, had access to the updated materials and manual. That was my case a number of years ago. I was in inactive status less than ten years though.
If no, you will at least attend an IDC if not an IE. The course has changed in the ten years you've been gone.

Good luck
