I was wondering if anyone could tell me what kind of viz to expect in the Panhandle waters around late July? I'll be there on vacation, and and I'm specifically interested in knowing what to expect around Gulf Breeze / Pensacola as well as the Destin area. Any input would be great!

The gulf is unpredictable. You can expect somewhere in between 0-80' of visibility. Depends on rainfall, storms, etc.

Bugman is right...it has really been all over the place the last couple of years. Right now things are improving. But, a bad stretch of weather and things can change quickly. I would call Bay Breeze Dive Center in Gulf Breeze or MBT in Pensacola the week before you come. They will give you an up-to-date and accurate report.

Right now the average viz reports I've heard are 40-50 feet inshore and 100+ offshore. But like everyone said above...Things change quick here!
