Hello,

I just moved to Peaks island. The rocky backshore looks like it would be great diving. Wondering if anyone is familiar with peaks and maybe some advice about currents and depths.

Thanks

I'm originally from Maine but never dove while growing up there. If you go, take pictures and post them here!

I don't know the spot but if there is structure like ledges nice diving is a good bet. Currents and visibility are bound to vary.

You could always check with the 2 dives shops in Portland for further information. Aqua Diving Academy and Maine Divers Scuba Center.

One of the Aqua Dive instructors (Eric?) lives on the islands and knows them well.

With a 25ft tidal difference and more as you go north, always expect some strange tidal action even if a dive shop tells you otherwise.

There may be some unpredictable ocean movements that can occur that a dive shop may not be able to tell you.

Plan the dive with extra safety in mind.
