Hi guys,
First post here. Found this board researching my first trip to Cozumel. Not being from Canada natively, I do not have any equipment with me so I recently bought a slightly used X-Vision on EBay.

It is a clear on clear but was advertised as a liquidskin. I didn't do much research on if liquidskin came with this colour scheme but today after getting the mask, I did some research on Mares' website and concluded that it probably isn't a liquidskin.

Could anyone confirm my doubt or how I can tell if it is a liquidskin? The seller was a nice guy and refunded me excess shipping charges proactively after ebay overquoted them. I hate to be an ******* and point fingers before being sure.

Thank you guys.

Having to used to work in Sport Chalet in the past and Mares masks was a decent seller. If I remembered right the liquid skin usually has a water drop and says "liquid skin" on the plastic frame just above and to the side (the diagonal piece of the mask frame) the nose pocket. Usually came in a combination color of clear frame on the outside, or blue on the outside and always silver in the inside. On the middle of the lenses if I recall always said Mares. As for feeling, the Liquid vision's silicone, it does feel softer but actually much more pliable than comparable masks in it's class.

X-vision is a good mask, that was my 2nd mask that I bought a couple years ago. Unfortunately, I sold it off because I was strapped for some cash. To be honest with you because I used to carry both those models I see no point in spending the extra 30 dollars for the liquid skin over the x vision. That's just me. Take note the masks that I am describing were the 2007 models and I am sure there must be a bunch of 2009 models now.

Try reposting this under the forum Manufactures in the Mares subforum. There are Mares personnel who read that forum and respond back pretty quickly. Not sure if they read throughout the general board population.

Good luck. I hope you purchased what you expected.

mmm hmmm
I see thanks for the replies. I too notice some ppl prefer the regular over the liquidskin (some say it is prone to leaks). But I was misled into thinking i was paying for the liquidskin which ticks me off... IF thats the case.

How old is the mask? It should have liquid skin on the mask somewhere. ie across the nose bridge slightly above the X Vision logo or down one side of the nose or the other.

I have no idea how old the mask is but he said he used it couple dives. Hard to tell but in overall good condition. And he is not replying me.. geez.

Hi,

If it is a liquid skin it will have liquidskin branded down the nose side of the frame. Sounds like what you purchased was misrepresented.

Sorry for that, good news is you do have a slightly used excellent mask.

Best,
