I am seriously looking for a proper BCD for my wife. We have tried out the seaquest Diva LV but are having a hard time finding other BCD manufacturers for the female body type....................can you help me out??? I h?ave also noticed that the price range for a female BCD is severely inflated (as much as 50 percent more than that of unisex BCDS.....why is this? Your help is most appreciated.

Why not a BP/Wings?

Why not a BP/Wings?
cause most of us like BCD's and don't want to haul around the backplate when traveling :)

My wife has a Diva LX and she likes it but when diving her drysuit she uses the scubapro ladyhawk.

I bought a SeaQuest Libra, which is a back inflate BC. I am a woman with a fairly small frame (5'4", 120 lbs) and had trouble finding a BC that would cinch down around me well enough to keep the tank stable. The Libra was the best I could find.

The BP/W I now dive is much better.

TSandM,
Does that mean that you no longer dive in your Libra, I am thinking about buying one and I have tried on a bunch of other BCD's this seems to fit me the best. I have an athletic build with a short torso. I have not tried a back-inflate BC as in my training I used the jacket type rental BC. I am mostly interested in doing warm water diving, with a bit of local diving in North GA. What's your advice.....

I dive a DiveRite Transpac and I like it. It's on the expensive size, but since it is modular, you can get a custom fit.

I have done some looking around for a female-specific bc for my girlfriend. She didn't like the SQ Diva... and hasn't tried any of the others out there. I have heard good things about the Zeagle Zena, (though the zipper closure seems a bit sketchy to me), but people swear by them. The zina has two adjustable bands in the mid section to fit to more body types. I would love to hear about what you find. good luck.

I dive a Mares Ariel Dragonfly and I just love it.
Good luck and let us know what you choose!

My wife has 22 dives on her Zeagle Zena and loves it. It fits extremely well and she definitely likes the performance. The only issue she had with it is that it has no pockets on it, luckily they offer add on pockets to solve that problem. The zipper is not an issue in any negative way. If you needed to ditch it quickly it's probably easier to pull the short zipper than get to two buckles. Like every Zeagle the quality is top notch. Good luck.
