Back to the thread: It really sucks that it's off limits, but it makes sense, wanting to protect drinking water and such. I wonder if there are places like Lake Mead where a dam has flooded existing towns. That would really be a neat kind of wreck dive.

I agree it sounds like it makes sense BUT it is very inconsistant. There is a lake in Maine that is the water source for a a city and swimming is off limits. That said, they allow boats and fishing. Tell me the guys in the boats are heading to shore when they need to go to the bathroom.... I do not think there is as more of a negative effect by allowing people to swim then what happens naturally anyway.

but that is my opinion (not like I have many opinions ;) )

Both Round Valley and Spruce Run in New Jersey allow diving but the bottom is bare and boring.
