Soggy,

The quabbin is a water supply, correct? That would make me think that their might be some blanket guideline that prohibits diving it. I have no sound evidence of this, however, just gut feeling.
If it is diveable, that would be a blast!!

No diving allowed in the Quabbin. It is a state reservoir, and they have a stupid law...

Correct, there is no diving in the Quabbin due its status as a public water supply. However, within the past couple of years, Chronicle or the local PBS affliate in Boston ran a program in which members of the Massachusetts State Police Underwater Recovery Unit took a camera crew on an underwater tour of some of the more interesting features still remaining from when the area was above water. I only saw a bit of it, but they showed a lot of the old stone structures -- walls, foundations, etc. The State Police patrol the facility and have a barracks there. Unless you've got a connection with the MSP I'd say you're out of luck, Soggy.

yuppers the animals have no problem using it as a cool place to relieve themselvs but no swiming (or diving).

What if the men in the dive team promised to duct tape their p-valves closed?? hehe

Hey, I'm not sexist. We're not peeing every 10 mins... we're going in the bathroom every 10 mins to b1tch about how much men suck. :bomb:

Back to the thread: It really sucks that it's off limits, but it makes sense, wanting to protect drinking water and such. I wonder if there are places like Lake Mead where a dam has flooded existing towns. That would really be a neat kind of wreck dive.

Edit: to trick auto-bleep software

Now that's a resevoir to dive! This is the largest dam construction ever. Chinese government is relocating entire cities (not villages)

I recall driving in N. NJ once and seeing a road go down to body of water. It was not a boat ramp. It was a closed off road. I think that there are old towns in nj underwater.
