I agree with the majority of posters on this thread stating that if you don't push your limits to some extent, you will never improve. It is very important to remember though, that when you are diving with a buddy or in a team that you take the least common denominator "limit" and step it up within the comfort level of the party.

It is also important to break down your progression into stages and dive those stages many times before progressing to the next stage. This is where opinions will start to vary as to which "stages" are passable without training, and which ones are not (e.g. stage deco, different mixes, etc.). I think that everyone will agree that training, especially technical training is fun!! Learning more about what you love to do so you can do more of it is fun!! So, you have to ask yourself, why not have the most training you can have for the particular dive you are doing?

and to be quite honest, we were more proficient than the majority of AOW's on the charter.

10 Dives an Advanced open water Diver does not make!
This is what most Major Training associations require, and the bad thing is that these so Called "Dive Masters" go along with this B.S.
