I also purchased Apeks from them and had no problems...fast shipping and good prices...

I did not have a warranty card in my box when I got it and was worried about not being able to get it serviced. One email to customer support and I got an apology and a warranty card in the mail.

Aqua Lung, which distributes SeaQuest and AquaLung do not all their products to be sold online, so if the product is bought from an online retailer the warranty is then voided. Oceanic is the same way.

When you buy a regulator or other product from a local dive center they will make sure that you are happy with it, do online retailers do that? We put the equipment together and let the customer dive it in the pool to make sure it it breathes they way they want and they are comfortable with their new gear before they hit the open water with unfimiliar gear. Do online shops do that? Sometimes it not just about the dollars you spend.

ScubaToys also sells Oceanic regs.

Both the shops advertising in the banners on the top of this board carry Oceanic... Personally, I would pick one of them! :D Supporting those who support ScubaBoard is ALWAYS a good idea!

Guys,

For those of you advocating using the net to purchase your dive equipment, I personally think you are doing our industry and sport a disservice. We need to adequate support our LDS's to ensure the continuation of our sport, the availability of product locally, and the continued local support our shops give us. As I have said on other forums, try getting your tanks visualed and filled over the internet. For the amount difference between the LDS and the net for the most part (always exceptions to the rule) minor differences. I also advise that the only way our shops continue to stay in business is the sale of products, NOT courses or air. Most air rigs are well over $10,000.00 new. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the costs incurred in running a shop are large and it requires them to make a profit. Profit is not a bad word. Profit enables the shops to remain in business! For those of you in the Northern climates, there probably isn't the number of shops available to you to shop, but for 99% of the time, you can do your research and then work with the LDS to get you somewhere close to what you would like to pay.

There are numerous reasons mentioned already, but I think it's just plain better to support the locals.

My 2 cents........................

Yeah... and this will change. Check Aqualung's website... the US is one of the only countries they prohibit online sales in.

One class action lawsuit, and it's all over.

Yep, that was the experience I had with the online retailer I choose (Scubatoys).

Again, Yep. My regulator came assembled and tested, and I checked it myself in the pool before I left. I'm confident that if I had any problem with it, Larry would have resolved it for me. Worked like a charm, and was adjusted perfectly.

Support your Local Dive Center!
May not be the cheapest, but better service then any online shop

Rofl... yeah, because all local shops have great service. That's almost as much of a crock as this whole "LIFE SUPPORT EQUIPMENT" thing.

Great LDSs are a wonderful thing, but not everyone has access to one. If you think you're being treated unfairly by your shop, you have other options.

Don't buy into this "support your local shop or else!" nonsense.
