I'm finally getting close to replacing my jacket-style BC with a BP/W system. Lately I've been checking out a lot of BCs and wings, and now I'm curious about the kind of dump valve where you just pull on the corrugated hose. I don't have one on my current BC, but the more I look at them, the more they look like a good idea.

Can this type of corrugated hose be added to any wing, or does it have to be designed to use that type of dump valve?

One obvious disadvantage is that they are bigger, and might snag stuff. Does anybody know of one that isn't so clunky?

I already did a search about using my Air2 on the corrugated hose, and that doesn't look like too much of a problem.

So, if I can get a BP/W with a corrugated hose that has a pull dump and an integrated auxilliary air source, does that mean I have to start looking for pink gear?

I have a pull dump and AIR 2 on my BP/Wing.

I have had one on my OMS and my Oxycheq wings with an SS1. DiveRite offers it as an option.
I, however, presently use a bungied alternate with an elbow on my wings. While I have considered using the SS1 again, I won't install the pull dump. Since I got dialed in with my BPW's I seldom dump gas anywhere but the lower butt OPV. The pull dump offers a possible failure point (however remote) that I can't justify. All my wings are donuts so venting from the single OPV is a piece of cake.

I never use corrugated hose pull dumps. Its an excellent way to detach your hose. Dont work too well on lots of wings either as all it does is pull the wing towards you.

Normal string pull dumps are fine though, ive got one lower left.

OK, for you guys who have/had pull dumps on your wings: was this something that was specific to that wing, or can you just unscrew the hose and valve from a BC and screw it onto the wing? The only one I've ever taken apart is on my BC; I don't know if it's a universal type connection, or are they all different? Thanks.

I would encourage you to leave the pull dump off and learn to vent via the OPV, at least for a few dives.

Pull dumps are more than a theoretical failure point. The internal cable can cut through the corrigated hose, repeated yanks on the inflator hose can pull the fitting on the wing through the outer shell. They can stick open.

If after a 1/2 dozen dives you still want a cable actuated pull dump rest assured that the basic fitting on the wing will interchange with either a plain elbow, or cable pull dump.

I think your going to get every answer in the book here. So far no one has mentioned... YOUR GOING TO KILL YOURSELF. :D

Don't know about all valves, but the three Zeagle pull dumps that I have had apart have a coated wire so there is little or no abrasion. Anything is possible.
Also you don't have to pull hard to get it to dump. Ok after 3000 dives you might stand a chance of pullng it through. Personally I don't see the difference in the amount of wear and tear on a pull dump verses the OPV. Same concept just a difference place.

Ditto. I use the one on the lower left, if/when I even use it. I find that my wing takes on a bit of water when I use the dump valve. I generally use the deflator button on the inflator hose. I've never felt comfortable about yanking on the BC's inflator hose, though

I have a dump valve on the lower right, of course, I'm special. :)

Thanks Tobin again and again. :)
