Alex,

when is the best time to dive in PV?

re weather, viz, etc...

gracias.

Nice conditions yesterday from Caletas to the cove at Majahuitas both slug hunting and scootering.

Very mellow 120 min dive with 85 F degree water, no surge at all and very nice visibility . Feels nice to be almost undressed after 20 days of diving with a DUI in the Baja California and California offshore islands. Second dive at the garden eel fields in Majahuitas.

Amazing pair of Chromodoris marislae,
Crosslandia daedali in what is left of the sargassum algeae,
Popeye catalufa at only 95 feet ....

Missing their northern cousins and the kelp already, but not the 50 F degree water !!

Sorry. I had not seen your posting.

The best time tends to be the fall when the water is still warm and the rains have passed. All summer the temperature is great. Some of the locations near shore may have somewhat lower viz because of the silt washed down with the rivers. We can alsways find areas where the viz is fine, though.

For a quicker answer, please contact me at avega@pvscuba.com

regards

Alex from PVScuba

Is Vallarta Undersea the place to go? I will be there Sept 2 staying at the Melia.

Hi Vintage Diver. There are several fine dive operators in our area. Please consider PVScuba in your options.

You can find a lot of comments on our services if you read back on this forum.

regards.

Alex from PVScuba

PS. By the way, our dive center is located within walking distance from the Meliá

This is also a nice time of year to do a little deeper diving on 21/35 or 18/45 at los Arcos or Chimo , there are Al 80 doubles and Al 40 or 80 with 50 % stage bottles available at Vallarta Undersea if you want to do something of this sort.

Also available is 32 % in Al 80 doubles for a nice 100-110 foot wall dive. No drysuit needed for this kind of diving during the summer season.

That's something I had not considered since I would be traveling as a recreational diver. Do you have 100%? I will have to convince the wife that all of the equipment is absolutely necessary.
