Puerto Galera Dive shop /resort for photographers???

Hi, scubaboard friends,

We are two photographers, huge heavy cameras, slow and quiet diving looking for crittes ... you know all that and we plan to go to Puerto Galera on december and after reading a lot I got a little bit confused:depressed:


Anybody can recommend a good dive shop and a decent resort, with small groups that matches our likes???

Puerto Galera has several good places, Asia Divers/El Galleon Resort and Atlantis Dive Center are two that I have used. However Atlantis is twice the price of Asia Divers with no flexibility in eating arrangements.

Personally, if looking for critters, go to Anilao instead.

I second Searcaigh on Anilao if you are looking for small stuff.

thanks for the advise, but we already have Anilao in our schedule a d we wpuld like to combine places.

so, anybody can recommend a photographers friendly resort in Puerto Galera?


Atlantis is out of our budget and Asia divers seems a very crowded place.

I would give Mark at Searider a call. His diveop is small and will cater to the photographer. Boats are 1-3 divers, most of the time 1-2.
Shop is in small lalaguna just a few meters away from Asia divers. SI are back at shop/and where ever you may be staying.
Searider can also get you lodging, just give them your parameters for what you want in a resort and he will find it for you.
Plus they will pick up and take back to ferry so you do not have to lug all your gear.
Mark has a nice shop, right next to another called /action divers.
Plus they will arrange trips to Verde Island (a must do).

La Laguna Beach Club and Beach Resort(LBC) and request Ogie as the guide.
You can also enquire cheaper accommodation near-by eg. Campbell and Swedgland.
LBC is located in Big La Laguna which is very very quiet unlike Sabang. If you are a night owl then Campbell is certainly NOT convenient at all. The place is situated at the extreme end of the beach.
