Stamford's Father Futie dies in Mexico - StamfordAdvocate

STAMFORD -- The city lost one of its most popular religious leaders this week, when the Rev. Richard Futie, pastor of Sacred Heart Parish, died on vacation in Mexico.
Futie was scuba diving at the Puerto Aventuras resort south of Cancun, the local Diario Respuesta newspaper reported. During the dive, he exhibited signs of a heart attack, signaled for help and the tour guide began first aid while heading the boat back to the marina.
The incident was under investigation and initial reports indicated alcohol might have played a role.
