Puerto Aventuras - where to stay?

Will be there next summer. Any suggestions of reasonably-priced accommodation? Not keen on the AI luxury compounds - we prefer somewhere near cafes and bars that provides straightforward, clean rooms.

I tried emailing Dennis at Aquanauts/Diablo Divers - but no reply - would it be better to ring him?

suggest you contact Michael Doody at diveaventuras.com. he is the owner - from MD. they run a fantastic, reasonably priced operation in both open water and cenotes, and are located in the center of town - in fact his shop is attached to a very nice hotel and they may have a pkg deal. we belong to palace resorts 5 minutes away and dive with Michael's gang 3 wks/yr. good luck!

The main hotels are the Omni, the Catalonia and the Sunscape, all-inclusive hotels in or near to the marina (where there are the cafes and bars). Otherwise there are condos for hire at various rates.

Don't give up on Dennis. He's a busy guy, and sometimes takes a couple of days to get back to you. He's also owner now of the Aquanauts dive shop, www.aquanauts-online.com.

Excellent if you want to do any cenotes!
