Thanks! Do you normally dive with the light on and if so, how long does the battery last?

Update! Spoke with Mares tech support. It seems that in the recent firmware upgrade they changed the battery status notification. To be more precise they deleted the battery status notification. Now it either displays "bat OK" or "Bat low". Which means there is no warning that the battery is getting low. Per Mares tech support, once it says "bat low" all dive functions are turned off except "bottom timer" mode. The manual is wrong. There is no 1 through 3 battery status after firmware 4.0. I have never seen a dive computer that gives basically no warning that the battery is getting low. What if it were to go low during a dive? Ridiculous. I will probably return these.

Clarification from Mares. Now they say that although the 1 through 3 status has been deleted with the 4.0 upgrade, there should still be an alert (battery symbol) shown on the main display when the battery is "low" and when it is "very low" the symbol will flash. I questioned him on his use of the word "should", but could not get him to be any clearer...

It sounds to me like that's the way it's designed but the guy you're speaking to has never seen it happen so can't say "will".

I'll have to look at mine more closely tonight. I noticed last night that I didn't have the 1-3 but it said Battery OK. I'm not sure I've seen a battery symbol but maybe that's because mine's not low.

As far as the light goes - I have mine set to turn off after 6 seconds. Figure if I should always be able to find what I'm looking for in 6 seconds and won't drain the battery unnecessarily.

Update. Used the Puck Pro on 12 dives . Its simple and easy to use. The question on the light is moot as turning on the light makes very little difference to the ability to read and in fact it is difficult to tell when the light is on or off. The only time I really needed a light was at about 120' in a cave and at that point I forgot to turn it on and just shone my light on the computer. I am still not happy about the battery tracking abilities of this computer (or lack thereof), but it lasted 12 dives and still says "battery OK".

I am a new diver and bought one of these Puck Pros for my new diving career. I have used it on my 5 certification dives and found it pretty easy to use and its easy to download the dives to my laptop. I do have one question though.

I understand that the bottom graph shows my estimated nitrogen loading given my dive time and average depth, and I see the surface interval begin to count up when I hit the surface. My question is, does the Plan section of the computer take into account my estimated nitrogen loading when paging through the different depths and times in the Plan mode?

Doesn't the manual say? Mine (cressi leonardo) spells it out.

Huh, well I'll be :) I just re-read the manual and the plan section of the computer does in fact take into account the nitrogen saturation. Sweet!

You know the saying: when all fails, read the fine manual.

What are the differences between the puck pro and puck pro plus?

Does puck pro plus automatically adjust for elevation(I saw that on a vendors website, but saw no confirmation)? I also saw the that pro has a depth alarm now.

Last I checked the plus did not have its own manual on the mares website.
