Just returned from Cozumel and was diving with a new Puck Pro I bought in February. All six previous dives this computer worked great--I agree that turning on the light during the day makes no difference in being able to read it--but never had any issues reading it even in darker swim throughs. On my seventh dive at Palancar Bricks.I put in in pre-dive before entering the water and everything was reading fine. Once we got to depth--approx. 65 feet I checked my computer and could barely read it and then it went blank. I pushed the button and a display came up saying "reboot". Well nothing else would display on the face so after notifying the dive master that my computer had failed we continued the dive relying on my SPG's--no problems. Once back on the boat I used a coin to open the batter compartment and the cover popped off like a cork out of a champagne bottle. No flooding but a gooey mess inside which we assumed was leaking battery acid. Cleaned out the compartment and replaced the battery, O ring and compartment cover and she fired right up again. I did need to reset the date and time, my nitrox setting was still in place and I checked the log and that dive was lost to the computer. Also on our second dive that day the computer treated it as my first dive so my nitrogen saturation from the first dive was lost. Three more dives with the computer before heading home and no more problems so far.
