Do I have something in my teeth?

I just bought two PST HP100s the 3500psi variety. I understand the valves are hard to come by if you want to switch to mirrored valves for sidemount and manifolded doubles. I will keep my eyes peeled for a 7/8" manifold that can also be disassembled an plugged, but in the mean time I am looking at running these as either independent BM doubles or as same valve sidemount, meaning they would not be mirrored. I am right at 100 dives so I am looking at completing the SDI Solo Diver course ( just to have the card, in case it is required somewhere) and I know that the independent doubles would meet the requirement for redundancy. Are there any other little "gotchas" that I might be missing? I am very pleased to get my hands on these tanks as I can now ditch the idea of doubling up some aluminums or using aluminums for sidemount.

check with your instructor first about the ID's, if you can't manipulate the valve on the left bottle, they may not allow it... I know I wouldn't.... Not saying I wouldn't dive like that, but not in a class. For sidemount it shouldn't be an issue though

if you call these guys, they may still have some of the OMS valves for them...

just run the right side valve in or valve down with the standard valves depending on your preference assuming you aren't getting into restrictions where either poses a problem. double wrap as needed if there is no stem.

Well, I went ahead and got an OMS manifold for the tanks (solves the doubles issue) now I will be looking for the hens teeth/OMS caps to break the tanks apart.

So - I just bought the OMS caps - if you can believe it the OMS website does not sell them... lol

When DUI bought OMS they sold all the caps - so you need to contact - Welcome to Lake Jocassee Dive Shop, Salem, SC - they will set you up... :)

Very funny story to me...

Well I have to say, I actually kinda feel bad. Everyone talks about getting these PST 7/8" tanks and having the hardest time sourcing manifolds and caps/plugs and so forth and so on.

Well, thanks to @tbone1004 and @Basking Ridge Diver I was able to source the caps from Bill at theLake Jocassee Dive Shop and I got an OMS Manifold AND steel bands for $100 off eBay.. I got into my PST tanks with manifold and caps, cheaper than my last set of 3/4" DGX manifold and plugs.

PS. Bill said that he had dozens of these caps and he asked that I get the word out.

I have the same 100s and 2 set of PST 3500psi 120s. Mine are all already doubled up.

What are these caps you're talking about? Do you mean plugs, to plug the hole where the isolator bar would screw in?

the OMS valves use a captured O-ring with a cap instead of a plug. Makes it analogous to a DIN valve essentially in the way it keeps the o-ring in. OMS went out of business around the time that sidemount was becoming popular and a bunch of guys had these OMS manifolds on their doubles and were trying to separate them for sidemount and trying to find the valve caps is horribly difficult. Bill Routh was heavily involved with OMS and has a bunch of inventory from the old OMS, including these valves. He doesn't have an online shop, and most people don't really know him since technical diving has a ~3 year turn around time, and they are VERY hard to find anywhere else.

For an OMS manifold, there are caps that screw on and cover the inner side of the valve.

..The question is: are they the newer (post recall) caps.
