PSI cert.

just curious, what is the value, not cost, of a PSI certification? i was just offered a cert. for free and looking to put a value on it.

If you are talking about a visual inspector certification, I have seen a cost for the course from $150-$225.
If you work for a dive store you would definitely need it.

I took the course from Dale Fox and it was worth the 200.00 dollars. It pays for itself if you have a ton of tanks that need VIPs.

when i took my padi rescue diver course, the only prerequisite was AOW along with medic first aid or the equilavent, and cpr cert. before the class was concluded. it was a real eye opening class. it was tough physically and not quite so much mentally, but still tough. you should be comfortable in the water and have no problem with having your mask kicked or tore or pulled off of your head, it will happen, just a matter of when. having your own dive reel would be nice so you know the working mechinisms of your own and have time to familiarize yourself with it, cause you will use one, or two. it is a course that i highly recommend for any diver no matter how much experience, you will learn something and be a better and more prepared diver for it. so,,, get wet and have fun. sam

hey Sam, I guess I should explain. A psi cert is for inspecting tanks. and yes I agree with you, it is important that divers should continue through rescue, at least.
