Hi Guys,

I'm in the process of making a range of Travel BP that are light enough for travel and I really need some input from you guys.

Firstly, the AL prototype is aircraft grade 5051 T5 with a hard anodized surface. In a medium it weights 850g including pair of lightweight SS STAs and the required wing nuts and bolts. The design has mounting holes that allow for the use of either a Halcyon or Oxycheq backpad and would allow almost any wing to be bolted on.

I'm seeking some advice on what features you would like on a this BP like weight, mounting holes, camband slots, material like SS, AL, or something more exotic like Ti or Carbon Fiber LOL!

Any help would be appreciated.

I like the hammerhead as far as mounting holes. I don't know if their slight offset at the bottom makes any difference or not, but I like mine.

Thanks BSea,

You mean the bend at bottom of the plate like wings or flare? If you mean those bends, then it does make a difference expecially if you have to move about a lot wearing a BP as they prevent the plate from digging into your kidneys. Also if you are a little bigger or smaller, they do help in comfort.

The mounting holes are nice but in order to make it as light as possible I'll have to shave off some metal which would mean that there won't be that many mounting holes.

Thanks

If you have a complete prototype by Sept...I will be glad to fly with it to Barbados and try it out for you then report back.

My thoughts would be....it must fit into a case that meets carry on size restrictions of airlines. For me....not for others....I would want an adjustable harness that quick disconnects. I can understand a teccie not wanting that...but I dive rec only. Are you making for both types?

Weights wise....I like pouches that can be pushed back on the belt to the plate to help with trim.

I would not even consider it if it didnt have two cam bands to hold the tank and they were metal like DR's. ...and the belly belt would be metal too.

let me think some more.
