I just got my Bare ATR HD. It came with a storage bag and talc. What is the best way to store the suit? Do I leave it on a hanger or fold it up and store it in the bag?

Do I use the talc on the outside, inside, or both sides of the seals? What's the best way to fold the suit to make sure you're not putting pressure on and damaging the zipper if you're storing it folded up?

we have some threads on here already concerning that.

Do not store you suit in the bag... use that for your undergarment and that sort of stuff.

We store our suits over a length of 3" PVC electrical conduit suspended by rope.

I also made one of Dave Daltons suit dryers and it works great... be sure to store your suit with the inside dry... or you will be in for some really nasty smells the next time you want to use it :D

Thanx again UP.

Agree with Pug to leave outside bag. I hang my Bare up, zipper open, using one of the big drysuit hangers. Worked so far...

I was under the impression rolled in the bag was the best way to store it (the advice of a, well incompitent dive shop owner, IMHO thats what he is) I will have to start storing it hung up now, as soon as I build a thing in the garage to hang it by (like UP's)

I thought that UV was bad for the suit? Isn't hanging it up somewhere going to subject it to sunlight and UV deterioration?

I don't think you should call the LDS incompetent just because of this... after all... drysuit manufacturers do make stoarage bags for their suits.

And I'm sure there are differing opinions on the matter. I used to keep my vulcanized suit rolled and stored in a bag. I just think that open air storage folded over a large diameter pipe is a better way to go.

Key elements: keep the suit away from sunlight and ozone producing electric motors as well as fumes from car exhaust... we don't run the car in the garage... start it up and back it out. Make sure the suit has a chance to dry inside and out (There is a surprising amount of moisture that ends up inside the suit just from perspiration.)

So hanging up in the spare room where there is a window would be a no-no then?

you've never been to the PNW have you :D

even if we didn't have houses and garages to hang things in there wouldn't much danger of that :D
