I have a Galileo Sol I purchased in 2008 and which has given many years of very faithful service. It has more than 2000 dives on it and has generally been problem-free. Lately, however, the buttons have largely ceased to function. Sometimes pushing a button has the desired effect; sometimes it doesn't. I've found that if I push very hard I may get it to work, but often in trying to make the connection it is interpreted as a "hold" rather than a "push". And sometimes I get a double push. I'm on Little Cayman for the next 6 weeks and then going to Fiji very shortly after I get back, so it's not feasible for me to send it in right now. I do carry a backup computer when I travel so I won't get left high and dry. But I would like to get the Galileo fixed, if it can be repaired. Is this problem fixable? I soaked it in fresh water for several hours yesterday and that didn't help. But I always soak it at least a few minutes when I go diving anyway, so I wasn't expecting that to help. And by the way, the battery reads full scale, so I don't think that's the problem.

It's all 3 buttons. I really don't see any difference among them, but realize this is not a consistent problem. If I keep punching on a button, eventually I get the desired action. And sometimes I get more--as I mentioned, it might get interpreted as a "hold" rather than a simple "push" and sometimes I get a double push.

Go to your Scubapro LDS. They can advise SP Tech Services. Chances are that SP will repair at minimal or no charge. You may have to pay shipping to the LDS. Mine did the same thing - I got a free repair.
