Hello,

Last dive I had a problem with my bc inflator. It is a subacqua bc (spanish brand but made in Taiwan inflator). BC filled of air and I disconnected the LP hose in order to do not ascend quickly

It blocked in open position at - 43 Meters. I have eared some times of problems like mine.

A friend tell me that cressi and another brand inflator often blocks in dive in open position.

Anyone knows problems like this??

regards

To summarise:

It happens often. You did the right thing. Get it serviced.

Once I have faced such a problem . I am using USDivers Cousteau BC for over 8 years. But my problem was just the opposite of yours that I couldn't inflate my BC although I tried several times. When I examined the inflator I saw that the salt deposits in the mechanism of the inflator caused such a problem. So easy to fix; just change the valve (same as used in automobile tires)

Some silicone spray in the fitting where the LP hose hooks up will usually help keep it working, but they need to be soaked well in fresh water afer diving (assuming sea water diving) because the silicone won't usually unstick a faulty one.

The auto-inflators get a buildup of corrosion in them (especially from saltwater diving) and then the parts won't slide like they are supposed to. They start to drag and stick. That is a good idea about soaking it in fresh water and then spraying some silicone into the inflator hole. If that doesn't work, the auto-inflator will need to be disassembled, cleaned, and lubricated with silicone grease.
