There's lots of traffic and lots of inept boaters around here. Every time I surface from a Ft. Lauderdale dive no matter how close I am to our boat I am watching out for boaters (flag or no flag)

Agreed about always being on the alert, I've had more close calls w/ boats than I care to talk about. I was just pointing out some errors in posts that some could perceive as reflecting poorly on Pro Dive when in fact, Pro Dive did absolutely nothing wrong. A. Claiming it was a drift dive and that they were not given flags, this simply is not true, it was not a drift dive. B. Comparing the dive to obvious drift dives where flags are necessary.

I do not belive CTX had any malicious intent is his posts, I do however feel it is important for others to know his post was highly erroneous (probably based on inexperience, nothing wrong with that) so that Pro Dive does not get maligned for doing nothing wrong.

Food for thought, when making a post that could possibly have an adverse effect on someone's livelihood it is important to get your facts straight.

One thing I forgot to mention previously but this reminded me. There are no tank ranks at a seated location that accept 8" tanks with boots. Not a huge deal because I like being in the shade and I simply geared up on the cushioned benches but it might be important to others.

Yes, your big ole 130s won't fit their tank racks, but I'll be happy to take those 130s from you so you can dive with PD any time!:eyebrow:

HP100s or even better, the monstrous HP120s would fit their racks just fine and provide adequate gas for the dives I'm talking about.:thumbs-up:

Did I tell you I added a ninth one to my fleet??? :D

I used the gibberish translator: Gibberish Translator

I also can't help but notice he has no answer for what boat gives out flags for moored dives.

while your sitting around debating on a diver flag is proper or not .I was out enjoying a beach day ,with my family and a nice bbq didn't want to sit around a computer talking about a dive flag and waiting for a response eating :popcorn:and the definition of a flag in case u need to know A diver down flag, or scuba flag, is a flag used to indicate that there is a diver below . regardless where you are or how much experience you have or not have , it's for your safety .A accident can happen anywhere .anytime , regardless if there is a flag or not

answer to your question

two boats that I use to tie to the the mooring line and give out flags are deep relief divecharters and .south florida dive boats both in pompano .And before you bash them .Call them and get your information straight .They give each group of divers a dive flag regardless if they are tied to mooring line . The people on these boats are instructors , dive masters , etc .Yes there are boats that don't follow this rule
and yes I will dive with them .I would have to use a little more caution when diving with out a flag with these operators both here in south florida and in the keys .

Take a deep breath my defensive friend. I'm certainly not bashing any dive op that gives it's divers flags for moored dives and I can assure you I know what a dive flag represents. After Rob's accident I was one of the one's active in distributing dive flag awareness brochures at local boat ramps, were you? You may also want to check the links in my sig line, you'll see I'm fairly active in dive flag awareness.

My point is and was, if you'll get over your emotional response and actually absorb what you're reading, that whether intentional or not, it came off as if you were questioning Pro Dives dive flag awareness when they in fact were doing nothing wrong.

Now if we can please move along, this topic is growing old for me and I'm sure everyone else here too.
