I just remembered is that it had its annual performed in between these two dives...

I haven't always been happy with regulators that were just serviced. I have had 3 out of 3 regs freeflow within minutes after I got them serviced.

I don't know much about servicing regulators but I did see that there is a machine to simulate breathing off the regulator to help settle the new seats. I think that step gets omitted.

Well we did a shallow ice dive yesterday on a small inland lake with water temps down to 32f with no problems. Both 2nds functions flawlessly throughout.
The only thing done differently was that I set up my gear and it was outside for over an hour before the dive while shelter was set up and the hole cut. I took away ALL of the hose protectors to expose as much metal to the water as possible, previously I did this just for my pri hose.
While this regulator will work for the type of diving I do now, the next addition will be more cold water equipped with more metal and better sealing.
Thanks again for all of the tips!

Wet at 32 degrees........:shakehead:.......not for me and hats off to you....

Not sure about the science, but the keep the gear cold works for me too......I think it is the super dry cold air.............

Glad SB could help.........M

Nice it worked for you this time but I would hesitate to take it on the deep dives before doing some more testing.

Sorry I could not keep my promise in testing my Aeris on the cold waters here - that was my wife's one and she traded it in for an Apeks reg this weekend.

Well it sounds like she made a nice trade!

The Apeks (or Legend, or ...) is on the list to look at closely when it comes time to buy an additional reg for cold water diving. Related to that, has anyone had any real experience with the HOG system in cold water?

Just an update for those that offered advice earlier...

Did a couple more local dives with no problems, the river was 39f last weekend. But yesterday was another story. During descent in Lake Michigan at about 15' our friend the freeze flow returned on the second. Water was 36f but the vis looked great! (for the 3 minutes I was in!)
Shut down and floated at the surface for a couple of minutes and tried again, no better, scrubbed dive and waited for every up top.

The LDS has some used Apeks XTX50's that I will call on Monday and have them set aside, problem should be solved. And that is that.
