deerboy:
Trying to plan 10 yr anniversary trip, wife and i are both experienced divers, first trip to Coz. Presidente looks nice on website but always want to hear from you guys first. Basically the question is.........is the presidente worth the extra cost?
Also which dive operator should i go with if i stay there?
And what are the "can't miss" dive sites for Coz?
Thx for Any Help

The Mrs. and I just got back from Presidente on Thursday night after a week's stay. There is not anywhere more beautiful or relaxing than Presidente Cozumel. We stayed there in '04 and '05, and yes... I bit on "The Club" offer that will be hawked to you when you get there. The remodel has improved the beauty of the place with all new landscaping that looks like it has been in place for years. There is absolutely no evidence of the hurricane anywhere. They have taken the square, boxy walkways and replaced them with winding pathways through beautifully landscaped grounds. The rooms are huge, super clean, incredibly comfortable beds, thick towels as big as bed sheets, super food, and attentitive and friendly staff. It is the perfect place for a romantic anniversary celebration. It is a world-class destination hotel.... BUT... It is expensive. The breakfast buffet is $20, but I ordered off the menu for breakfast for about $10. They make the most incredible French Toast in the world. Even the coffee is good, which is something in Mexico. To me, it is worth it... But I'm at a point in my life where I can afford it.
I dove 5 days with Blue XTSea, and they picked me up at the hotel pier every morning at 8:30, and dropped me off at around 12:30. You cannot go wrong with Christi and Blue XTSea, and there are so many great sites to dive - don't worry about a "don't miss" place. The pier at Presidente is right at the big Palapa that covers the main restaurant, right on the beach. It couldn't be any more convenient.
The Mrs. is a beach and book fan, and does not dive, and thinks Presidente is the nearest thing to heaven.
So... dive in the morning... have lunch and relax on the beach in the afternoon... have a nap... then head to town for dinner - it's a $5 cab ride.... Take her to Casa Mission and have the mariachis sing "Sabor a Mi" ... your wife will melt in your arms ... you'll love it!
Again... if you can afford it... it is perfect for an anniversary trip...
