Things seem ugly right now, but it looks like the swells are going to calm down considerably for the long weekend. Historically, does this result in poor viz in the bay or Carmel? Or is it a complete crapshoot?

Usually the viz takes awhile to comeback after a huge swell like this one, but hard to be certain what will happen this weekend.

If the bay is a blow out carmel usually survives... somewhat... kinda... unless the deep water swell is raging

If you do not go it will be flat with 100 foot vis....

If you do go the swell will rock and roll and you'll navigate by braille.... :)

Oh with the fire in the Santa Cruz mountains who knows how that will affect traffic

Definitely a time to take 101 all the way and avoid 17! Looks like Monday is going to be marvelous though...hmm...

I havent seen the fire affecting the highway traffic...17 was a mess this am but that was due to night time paving that they didnt get finished and picked up on time so it ran into the morning commute...I think there will be more of a traffic issue with the holiday events like the Watsonville "Fly In" than the fire..
