You're still one of a kind, Wench, even if not the only Kamala around.

Kamala: Hey guy, there's a huge Water World store there near Holiday Inn, as well as a few dozen others. Find a silicone skirted mask you like that will stay on your face with nothing but suction from enhaling through your nose. I started Scuba with a cheap mask from a Sporting goods store, and the plastic had warped enough to let water leak in quickly.

Where do you live, dude? Not on your profile. I'll be diving Key Largo in late March, I think.

Hey Kamala,

Welcome to the board. i had been here for abt 2 weeks, and its great fun.

Do they teach you to fill you mask with beer, and gulp it off your face?

Cheers

I'm hooked! Cert dives 3 and 4 were awesome! Spent them on French Reef near Key Largo in 50+ and 30+ fsw. Also got a couple of extra dives in with my girlfriend's dad near Molasses Reef before we left. Thanks to all for the well wishes and the mask advice. I picked up my own mask before my last 2 cert dives, much better but not perfect. (I have a big head, wide face, and some deep laugh lines) It's a mess on the surface, but I can get it seated pretty well when I get to the bottom. Felt pointless doing the mask clearing skill checks though because I spent a good bit of my dives doing it anyway. Starting to get my buoyancy under control, but more practice would be welcome even though I was able to get up and down behind my instructors/buddies without using my BC on my last 4 dives. Definitely a lot more learning to do as lots of underwater activities are looking interesting to me. In particular learning what good-to-eat fish look like without sauce and rice before I take another spearfishing trip with my girlfriend's dad would be a good idea. This is the best gift I've ever gotten! What a great girlfriend! I think I'm done babbling effusively for the day, but it's pretty hard to contain myself at the moment!

Great to have you aboard Kamala. Sounds like you're really enjoying yourself. I do envy you the diving there. I'm up in the Rocky Mountains, snowbound. Glad to see you're getting into spearfishing. If you haven't yet, you might want to check out spearboard.com a great place to discuss slingin steel. Welcome.

Welcome Kamala!

The best wishes for you and good luck on the certification tests!
I'm all certified! Need some dry suit and deep training and I'll be better set for the Pacific Northwest!

Congratulations Kamala, you are in the company of some good divers both in MA and Seattle. Have fun and enjoy yourself.
