power inflate trouble

has any one ever had problems with the inflate button free flowing on bc or better yet a sea quest bc, as soon as i turn the air on the bc automatically starts inflating so i removed the screw behind the button and noticed alot of corrosion probably from the salt i am just wondering if or how any one has dealt with the problem!

oh yea. welcome to my world with the old stainless inflator on the Eclipse. Be sure you can disconnect it quickly under pressure! Don't go into any overhead environments. (get it replaced)

In fact, everyone should know how to disconnect this in case of a freeflow, inflator "stick" and have it in their mental game...this problem calls for quick action, at depth.

My inflator had a slow leak on one dive. Since it was a shallow dive I decided to disconnect the hose and oral inflate if I needed too. I think it might have been caused by a bit of debris or a salt crystal from the last dive. I rinsed it out and soaked it overnight and havn't noticed any problems since.

If the internals are corroded I would replace the parts or get a new inflator. They're fairly cheap.

somebody told me to use camera silicone on the insides and it has worked for now.

Try soaking it in vinegar, rinsing in water and spraying with silicone.
Better yet if it can be disassembled clean with vinegar (Lysol Toiletbowl Cleaner and water is even better) rinse and lube o-rings
with silicone grease (can be purchased at you local dive shop).
Of course, be warned, that at this stage disassembly may be terminal.

Carefully disassemble it. Clean it and replace the o-rings. Lubricate with silicone grease. Should be done once a year or so.
