I had my surgery in 1998. I had halos, starbursts, ghosting, reduced contrast sensitivity, etc. right after and it has remained ever since. I have read accounts of people having these issues even with the new lasers. My distance vision is bad again and I am currently being fitted for sclerals so I can see clearly at a distance. I can tolerate soft contacts due to dry eye issues, which also can be permanently induced by LASIK. I would not recommend the surgery.
