Poseidon Odin for how much?

I just saw that LeisurePro has the Poseidon Odin for $249.99.

Best deal I have ever seen on this reg.........unless you can pinch it from a new DIR convert for a song and a piece of bungee cord!

I've been researching the Oden/Jetstream for a few weeks and dollar to dollar wise, that price is much lower than I've been quoted...

In fact....way to low....it's got my suspicion meter twitching.

I would try to find out exactly what you are getting (as in specific model # of first and second stages) and other identification details and then compare this data to that of your trusted LDS Poseidon dealer.

What LeisurePro does is to buy gear from "persons other than the manufacturer" (for example I think they get Apeks from somewhere in Germany)at very low prices. They make their money from volume rather than markup. The only glitch is that they're not authorized dealers so you get no manufacturers warranty. You do get a warranty from LP that meets or exceeds manufacturers.

If you don't mind sorta "gray market" gear you can get fantastic deals. It's all new and in the box stuff.

And for me on a personal level, I'm not comfortable with not having the manufacturer's backing on that particular regulator.

I'm all for a good deal, but for me, having local and manufacturer service/support on something at the level of the Poseidon regs adds greatly to the overall value of the sale.

That's a very understandable point of view Mike. For myself, I did buy my regs online (from DiveInn). By doing this I was able to afford 4 Apeks regs instead of having to settle for inferior regs on my stage bottles. My thinking was that with the general quality of Apeks regs I would be unlikely to have warrantable problems and that it would take several rebuilds (paying for parts) before I would negate my savings on the original purchase.

I have already bought one Odin from L.P. and have used it about 50 times without trouble. It was the latest model and performend flawlessly.

I paid 324.00 for it last May. It has worked like a charm.

whatever you think of getting gear from them, if you are ever in NY, visit the shop. It's pretty cool.

they are on a narrow street, one of the east-west canyons, kinda near the empire state building. They are above adorama photo, and they have a big dive flag flying. No streetfront, though. We figured out where they were when we saw a guy get out of a tiny elevator with a scuba tank.

They have a decent sized 2nd floor store, pretty well stocked with one of everything. There is a dutch door on the side of the store, look in there, and they have about a million of everything. They have a couple guys working the store, and one guy answering phones, all calling back to the storeroom on radios to get stuff. Really knowledgable staff, when I was there, a guy was buying one of those underwater drinking bottles you put on a reg, and the salesguy was familiar with all 3 models that they were selling and explained why one was best.
