We checked out Porteau on the 30th, it was pretty cool. After some initial blundering we spent most of the dive on the pipe reef snooping around. Tonnes of shrimp out in the afternoon, and a giant lingcod buzzed my girlfriend.

AFTER our dive, while enjoying a late lunch overlooking the dive site, what appeared to be two seals showed up around the buoy near the pipe reefs, and kept popping up for at least 20 minutes..

Some photos:

I think it will be a loooong time before I get bored of the life in the ocean compared to the life in the Alberta lakes! It's nice to finally have good diving in my backyard...

A bunch of us were there on the 31st for a New Years Eve Day dive. About 20 divers or so, Langley Diving Club...

This Ling Cod let me get real close for some pics....

Great shrimp pics!

It sure didn't take you long to jump into the local scene, and yes, the diving around here can't be beat!

See you out there!

Nice shot of that ling! The lingcod we saw didn't get close enough to me for me to take a shot, but he was practically hitting on my girlfriend/dive buddy.. I guess I was concentrating on the shrimp too much and he got offended.

no more pics of Ling, you're making me hungry

great pics guys

It seems a bit early yet, but the lings get distinctly grumpy when they are guarding eggs in the spring.

I took some video of a Ling guarding eggs a couple of weeks ago at Porteau. I'll try to edit it in.
Here it is. The Ling is on the right mid frame and the egg clutch is under the rock cleft Ling Cod guarding eggs
