Well.... no good diving news from Cancun so far. Due to strong winds from the SE, the harbor master has closed the port to all boats under 50' for the second day. I have really been looking forward to some dive with Ben and M.A.D.

Good news is that Thursday we are heading down to Playa for a couple of dives with the bulls, assuming they are still in the area.

Otherwise the trip has been a lot of fun. Kids are having a great time on the beach and in the pool. The weather has been hot and sunny.

Hopefully I will have better news tomorrow.

Yeah, I've heard about that. There isn't much you can do fighting the weather. Our last trip was three days after Hurricane Dean. Everything was stirred up and had a ripping current, especially on the night dive.

We got some dives in, but not as many as I hoped. One good day with a drift dive on Manchones. Ask Ben about him lending me his Oly and all the pictures I took....:D

I hope you get some good weather and that the family is enjoying the trip....

I'm off to Cancun on 24 April, so I hope it will be better weather by then. It is really a shame that the bad conditions are affecting the operators over the Spring Break Time. The economy is hard enough right now without this.

Over the last 3 weeks we have been affected by several north cold fronts that do not come in all the way to the yucatan peninsula but do affect with south se wind, port has been closed a lot lately, some times it is hard for the dive ops cause gotta refund or move people around, but tomorrow it will open and it looks like it will stay that way for several days.
Have fun diving

Same thing going on in Playa. We haven't been able to do anything but Cenotes for about 4 days now. I think we have had maybe a week of diving in the last 20 or so days. Just crazy wind coming through from the SE. Today the Port is open, and I think everyone is taking a long, deep breath saying thank God!

Well the wind let up and we headed out this morning. We had two great dives on the C58 mine sweeper and Gran Pin (sp?). Decent vis (@60ft)considering the rough seas for the past few days. Strong current. Ben and Jorge are both real nice guys and fun to dive with. I'll post a longer trip/dive report when I get back.

I just wanted to let the folks coming down in the next few days know that the weather cooperated today.

Safe diving,

PH
