I dive a bp/w so the only storage pocket I have is a thigh pocket on my 7mm wetsuit. Im going to Sea of Cortez on a live aboard. I won't be wearing my normal wetsuit but a dive skin, I dont like the dive rite strap on pocket, I don't want the shorts with pockets over a dive skin, what other options are there for the necesaties like sausage, dive tables, slate....? Can I find a dive skin with a thigh pocket?

You could probably have one made... Or you could buy pockets and glue them to your dive skin. Halcyon also has (or used to have) a pocket that you can attach to your waist (instead of a light canister).

Try Calling Chris at Terrapin Wetsuits (New Braunfels, TX) she does custom work, add-ons and alterations. Alterd my girlfriend's wetsuit to a custom fit. Does GREAT work, very reasonable. I know most of her work is with wetsuits but she may also alter Dive-Skins, she has a couple of standard pockets to add-on but I'm sure she could do what-ever you need. http://www.terrapin-wetsuits.com/

I don't know, but I would be worried that the dive skin would have so much stretch that if you put any weight in the pocket it would hang down and bounce around.

Would it be better to thread a pocket onto your waist or shoulder strap?

kid spot: interesting idea.
Vie: sorta like dive rite but without quite so many straps, if all else fails.
3dent: I see your point but Im only looking at sausage, snips, dive table, slate. maybe it wouldnt be too much weight...
I didnt even think about calling my wetsuit mfg... I guess that would be too easy.

Thanx

Dive Rite makes a thigh pocket that requires no gluing sewing or anything. All you have to do is pass it through your waist strap webbing and then secure it around your thigh with a velcro! Pretty cool for warm water. Also some company makes neoprene shorts with thighpockets than you wear over a wetsuit....i don't know which company though, but with a little search on google you should probably be able too.

what about just wearing a fanny pack right below your harness?

A bit off subject but isn't a skin (assuming .5-1 mm) abit light for sea of Cortez?,particularly a live aboard.
